Zebra masterpiece, Zimbabwe

Zebra painted over part of a small, upside down antelope. I think the artist has applied a shading technique to get the soft, mixed colours of the zebra. The way artists nowadays use oil paints. We know that some of the ancestral San artists used fat as a binder in the paint they made. It dries slowly and can be mixed to create subtle shaded colours while the fat also gives the paint a depth and richness. From the famous site, Ntswatugi, in the Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe.
